I wrote a blog "Places To Watch Games/Sports Bars" in January, 2020 on places I think are good places to watch any kind of sporting event.
Since we're in the middle of the NBA and NHL playoffs and with MLB in full swing and College Football and the NFL coming before we know it, I decided to write another blog on the places I'd recommend going!
The first thing I'll say is this: support small businesses and family run restaurants!!! They need the help and support more than any of these chain places!
Since I've lived in California and Wisconsin, I'm going to be listing places in both states. Some of them will be the same is in my blog from last year. I am not sure the hours of operation at all of these locations with all of the changes in the country over the last 15 months, so you should check the information before you go. I will be giving the name of the restaurant/bar and the address, as well as my opinion on the food (if I have an opinion on it).
Wisconsin:
Jordan's Big Ten Pub
1330 Regent St #1255, Madison, WI 53715
The food is good for bar food.
State Street Brats
603 State Street, Madison, WI 53703
The brats are great (if you couldn't tell by the name). Whenever I'm in Madison, I always make sure to come here.
Skippy's Burger Bar
113 Green Bay Rd, Thiensville, WI 53092
Food is cool, as you could tell by the name, the burgers are what they're known for.
Mulligans Sports Bar & Grill
16707 WI-32, Mountain, WI 54149
This place is in a little known town in Northern Wisconsin. The food is pretty good and their specialty drink is the Bloody Mary's made by the owner Pam. They have several TV's to watch sports on!
Crave Bar and Food
10401 N Port Washington Rd, Mequon, WI 53092
The food is very mediocre. If you're going just for the food, I'd recommend going elsewhere seeing as this is far from a 5-star food restaurant. But this place makes my list on game day atmosphere's with several TV's and food that'll get the job done.
The Bridge
1216 Bridge St, Grafton, WI 53024
This place is primarily a bar, doesn't have too many options for food but they have a couple things to eat. It makes my list for watching a game there, but I'd eat before going here.
Now I'm going to move on to my list of places in California.
California:
Ben's BBQ & Brew
5391 Prospect Rd, San Jose, CA 95129
This is a family run place. The BBQ is phenomenal and they have plenty of TV's and, you guessed it, beer! They also have wine as well. The owner of this place is very outgoing, which is a big plus for me.
The Diner of Los Gatos
235 Saratoga-Los Gatos Rd, Los Gatos, CA 95030
They only have one TV, but the food is great and they serve beer and wine. So make sure and go early for a prime spot by the TV. It's a family run restaurant and the owners are great! So make sure to go out and cheer on your teams with them!
The Blue Chip Restaurant & Sports Bar
325 S 1st St, #B, San Jose, CA 95113
This is a pretty unique place. The philly cheesesteak is great! They have a ton of TV's to watch virtually any game you want.
The website says that this place is "temporarily closed" so I'd recommend giving this place a call before going to see if they're open or not.
Rookies Sports Lodge
1535 Meridian Ave #10, San Jose, CA 95125
This place is pretty cool. Food is above average. It does get extremely packed during big games, so get there early if you want a table.
St. John's Bar & Grill
510 Lawrence Expy, Sunnyvale, CA 94085
The food is really good. They only have a couple of TV's unfortunately, so for the big games you'll need to get there early for a table by one of the TV's otherwise you'll be standing to eat and watch.
California Craft Beer
43377 Mission Blvd, Fremont, CA 95439
This place is pretty much strictly a bar. All they have for food is some chips for purchase. They do, however, allow you to bring in food that you ordered from somewhere else in to eat while drinking. They have multiple TV's to put games on and they also have the NFL Sunday Ticket package as well.
